Blues to rock, folk to country, James opens up your guitar playing from favorite songs to infinite possibilities
The Songs
I want my students to be confident guitar players who feel comfortable playing a variety of songs from beginning to end.
Songs To Get You Started
I use certain songs to get people going when they’re starting out:
Johnny B. Goode (Chuck Berry)
That’ll Be The Day (Buddy Holly & The Crickets)
Route 66 (The Rolling Stones)
Blow Wind Blow (Muddy Waters)
Wipeout (The Surfaris)
These are straight-ahead songs with three or four chords, and a beginning guitarist can strum them almost immediately, but they’re also songs that you can work on and make better for as long as you play guitar.
Guitar Instrumentals
Guitar instrumentals are a great way to learn guitar because they require many different guitar playing skills and are also fun to play. Here are a few:
“Walk Don’t Run” (The Ventures)
“Night Train” (The Ventures)
“Out Of Limits” (The Marketts)
“Pipeline” (The Chantays)
There are many songs we can play together. I’ll help you develop a wide variety of guitar skills, and you’ll be very pleased with the results.
